The Look and Feel of Fine Italian Leather Furniture

For those who love the look and feel of fine Italian leather furniture, you can now have the best in your own home from Santambrogio Handmade Italian Sofas and Chairs. Santambrogio is a fine furniture company based in Milan, Italy, that recently entered the U.S. market with an online presence.

Santambrogio’s furniture line encompasses sofa beds, loveseats, leather sofas, sectional sofas, modern sofas, reclining sofas, Chesterfield sofas, camel-back sofas and armchairs. All of the selections are custom-made, featuring quality materials and craftsmanship. Each piece comes with a certificate signed by the artisans who crafted it, verifying that the furniture is genuinely Italian-made. The furniture features full grain leather, which is vegetable-tanned in Italy to provide the supple texture, rich patina and beautiful character that only a natural hide can provide.

“The furniture features high-quality Italian craftsmanship and great attention to detail,” said Sandra Lassley, U.S. national sales manager for the company. “But while the furniture is high-end, the prices are not. Delivery and taxes are included in the prices listed on the website.”

Part of Lassley’s role is to assist online customers with the selection and ordering process of the furniture they choose from the website. “I see them from the ordering process all the way through to the delivery of the furniture at their front door,” Lassley said.

To ensure satisfaction with the furniture, Lassley will supply samples of the leathers to each customer, and they receive a photo of their sofa before shipping: all in under 90 days.

All furniture ordered by U.S. consumers is shipped in containers to Houston, then moved to warehouses in New Jersey or California before being delivered to the door of customers, without the use of retailers or middlemen. In addition, Lassley will work with interior designers and decorators in getting the furniture to their customers.

The range of Santambrogio furniture includes luxury leather, regular leather, faux leather and fabric. “There are even a number of interesting pieces in which fabric and leather are used together,” Lassley reported.

The company was founded in 1964 by Giovanni Santambrogio and now is under the operation of the third-generation of the Santambrogio family. All of the sofas are designed by Claudio Santambrogio, furniture craftsman and grandson of the company founder. Claudio, who studied at Milan University and San Diego University, holds two degrees in interior design. Claudio’s father, Giuliano Santambrogio, oversees production and quality control at the furniture factory in Milan.

According to Lassley, the high-quality craftsmanship employed by the Santambrogio family leads to furniture with great wearability that just lasts and lasts.\

“They don’t cut corners,” said Lassley, who appeared recently with Claudio Santambrogio on the Artistically Speaking blog talk radio program. As she told host Rebecca Parsons: “They take great pride in their work and use only the best materials.”

The promise of quality is backed by what Lassley described as an unsurpassed warranty. “They can confidently do this because they know their furniture is not going to fall apart after two or three years,” she said.

Another advantage of the furniture is that U.S. consumers can order it customized to their exact specifications in terms of size, style, stain color on the legs—even the density of the foam to fit the preferred firmness. “It’s your furniture, so you can customize it the way you want it to be, (so it's) entirely unique to you,” Lassley explained.
