Salon NYC 2017 Shows Art Deco Flair

Salon NYC 2017, the 22nd gathering of the International Salon of Decorative Painters, showcased the talents of 78 artists from 19 countries. The event, which took place April 13 through 16, paid homage to the magnificent architecture of New York City with an Art Deco theme.

Salon NYC hosts Arlene Mcloughlin and Jeanne S. Schnupp, both native New Yorkers, planned the event at the High School of Art and Design, located in midtown Manhattan.

One of the highlights of the event was the creation of several collaborative murals, which gave artists the opportunity to pool their talents to create some truly breathtaking works. Salon also featured an impressive lineup of lectures conducted by some of the most prestigious decorative artists in the world, including Pascal Amblard, Sean Crosby, Pierre Finkelstein, Jean Sable, Miriam Ellner and Lori Wilson.

Throughout the course of the event, guests and attendees had the opportunity to interact with the artists, watch demonstrations and take in the international exhibition. Salon concluded the week with a dinner featuring a roaring ’20s theme at Sunset Terrace at Chelsea Piers.

After an exceptional week in New York, plans are already underway for the next Salon, which will take place in 2018 in Friesland, Holland.
